ROLLING STONES, ROCK N ROLL CIRCUS. Contiene: song for Jeffrey, i Jethro Tull con Anthony Iommi dei futuri Black Sabbath, e non ancora totalmente intorvito da oscuri pensieri, -a quick one while he's away, The Who -entry of the gladiators -over the waves (noti temi del circo) -ain't that a lot of love, Taj Mahal -something better, Marianne Faithfull -Yer blues, John Lennon con i Dirty Mac; che non sono altro che Keith Richards alla chitarra basso, e John Lennon e Eric Clapton alla chitarra -whole lotta Yoko, Dirty Mac e Yono -jumping Jack flash -parachute woman -no expectations -you can't always get what you want -sympathy for the devil -salt of the earth, the Rolling Stones. THE ROLLING STONES MEET MUDDY WATERS
MUDDY WATERS, BLUESMAN from Mississippi and then Chicago,
gave birth to the Rolling Stones, four English blues
wannabes. Not only did the band love and play Waters classics
like "I Just Want To Make Love ToYou" and "I Can't Be
Satisfied," but they even named themselves after one of his
songs, "Rollin' Stone."
In 1965, while on their first tour of America, the Stones,
already hugely popular in England, visited Chess Studios in
Chicago. This was the place where not only Waters but other
blues and rock greats, including Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy
and Chuck Berry, made their seminal recordings. The Stones
wanted to record a few songs and also hoped that they might
catch a glimpse of one of their idols at work. They succeeded
on both counts, though not as they anticipated.
Keith Richards later recalled: "We walked in and there's
Phil Chess and Ron Malo, the engineer, and there's this black
guy in white overalls painting the ceiling. As we walked by
into the studio, somebody said, 'Oh, by the way, this is Muddy
Waters.' I'm dying, right? I get to meet TheMan-he's my
fucking God-and he's painting the ceiling! And I'm going
in to work in his studio. Ouch!
"This is the record business, right? The highs with the lows!
Ooh, boy. In that one little meeting, in those few seconds, when
he said, 'It's a pleasure to meet you,' Muddy taught me everything,"
said Keith. "The look in his eye was saying, 'Well, you
can be painting the ceiling next year.'And he had no idea that we
revered him-we werejust another bunch of creeps.
